Second Annual Festival of Trees raises over $29,000 for Local Non-Profit Charities


Nothing captures the spirit of Christmas better than singing carols, sipping on hot chocolate and nibbling on some red and green sprinkled cookies. The Embassy Suites Atlanta - Galleria hotel celebrated their second annual Cobb Galleria Festival of Trees event which showcased 30 Christmas trees decorated in a contest for various charities. The Cobb Galleria Festival of Trees is a great opportunity for the Atlanta community to make a difference in the lives of others by embodying the true meaning of Christmas through fund raising for local charitable organizations. Admirers "voted" for their favorite tree or charity by donating money in envelopes designated at each tree. The tree with the highest monetary donation received an additional donation from the hotel so every vote matters!

The annual event raised $14,000 in its inaugural year. In its second year, the Cobb Galleria Festival of Trees set an ambitious goal of raising $20,000 for 30 local charities. The results were announced at a holiday gala for the participating charities and guests where Santa Claus revealed the fundraising goal had been exceeded at $29,618!

Our Atlanta hotel gave an additional $1,000 to Curing Kids' Cancer, which raised the most totaling $5,086. Camp Juliette Low raised $4,772 with the March of Dimes rounding out the top three with $1,380.

Winter Wonderland


The trees went up the weekend of Friday November 18th through Sunday the 20th and stayed up until after the New Year, giving the community plenty of time to thoroughly enjoy the decorations and make a contribution. The culmination of the festival was the hotel's Anniversary Gala Reception on Thursday, December 15th, 2011 from 5:30-8:00. The event featured food, beverage and live local entertainment capped off with Santa Claus handing each organization their donations. Last year the event was extremely successful and raised a total of $13,912.21 for all of the participating charities combined and we definitely surpassed that amount this year! The Atlanta community really proved that it is far better to give than to receive.
