The Oregon Zoo is located along the MAX light rail line, five minutes
from downtown Portland. The zoo is currently showing off a pack of
Visayan Warty Pigs, complete with mohawks, in addition to the countless
other animals who live there: crocodiles, Asian elephants, giraffes,
hippos, monkeys, penguins, snakes, turtles, zebras and the list goes
on. |

Oregon Zoo never stops working to create a better place for animals and it's visitors. The zoo has many projects in the pipeline. The largest project is the Great Northwest exhibit, which takes visitors from the crest of the Cascades, through forest, canyon, and farm, to the Pacific Ocean. ![]() Cascade Canyon Trail includes special viewing highlights like a suspension bridge that leads to an elevated viewpoint overlooking Black Bear Ridge. The bobcat exhibit includes an overturned tree that hides a hollowed-out, heated bobcat den. Then at Cougar Crossing, visitors can come close to sleeping cougars in their heated, rocky den. |
