Fundz Jazz is a group of talented San Francisco Bay Area musicians that
have performed together in a wide variety of musical ensembles over the last 20
years. They come together in Fundz Jazz to perform some of their favorite jazz
and R&B compositions from the last six decades.
Fundz Jazz features: John Xepoleas on drums; Mike Williams on guitar;
Marc Levine on bass; Dave Scott on Trumpet and Chris Cole on Vocals. The
repertoire includes classic compositions by Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, Horace
Silver and Duke Ellington, as well as vocal gems by Frank Sinatra, Marvin Gaye,
Tony Bennett, Van Morrison, Michael Buble and Peter Gabriel.
January 25th- Allen Frederick
Allen
Fredrick is a dynamic vocalist, as well as guitarist, keyboardist and harmonica
player whose style is rooted in Blues, Rock, Jazz and R&B. He studied Jazz
improvisation from renowned trombonist David Baker, composition from composers
John Eaton and Iannis Xenakis, and piano from Duke Ellington arranger Allaudin
Mathieu. He was keyboardist and singer for the Hoodoo Rhythm Devils for two
years where he played many club and concert dates in the San Francisco Bay
area. He then joined Maria Muldaur as musical director, keyboardist and singer.
He performed with Maria for five years touring throughout Europe, the U.S. and
Canada. He was Harmonica player for famed bluesmen Yank Rachel (She Caught the
KATY) and Sleepy John Estes. He has also performed with Paul Butterfield, The
Shirelles, and The Drifters.
He
recently returned from Central America where he worked in a professional
recording studio as a producer, engineer, singer and voice-over artist for
television and radio commercials. While in Central America, he was the featured
artist for Rock concerts as well as musical engagements at hotels and tourist
resorts. At present, he resides in the San Francisco Bay Area where he plays at
all the top hotels for corporate special events and for the major cruise line
whose yachts tour the Bay.

February 1st- Lloyd Gregory & Friends

is smooth, soulful, melodic, flowing and immediately likeable. What makes his
approach distinctive is that it evokes unique hints of his extensive R&B
roots. He is a master of both acoustic and electric guitar. Although Gregory
has released five critically acclaimed albums of his own, he has also recorded
with Martha Reeves, MC Smooth and Freddie Stewart (Sly & The Family Stone);
and has performed onstage with Rodney Franklin, Stanley Clarke, George Duke,
Gerald Albright, Lenny Williams (Tower of Power), Freda Payne, The Dells, and
Lowell Fulsom. Minor 7th: Acoustic Music Review says, "Lloyd expertly
fuses soul, pop and jazz, forging a hybrid that is both enjoyable and
intellectually stimulating."

Francisco, California. While not on tour with Joyce Cooling, the Michael Athans
Trio can be found at great venues around the East Bay playing classic rock, latin,

since the 1980s. The five members have

vocalist has a lot going for her. Betty's style is at once elegant, playful,
and seductive. She loves the emotion in each song she sings, and is not afraid
